Kill ratio in inventory management refers to the percentage of inventory items removed or eliminated during a cleanup or rationalization process. This can happen during product lifecycle management when obsolete or slow-moving items are “killed” to free up storage space and reduce carrying costs. A high kill ratio indicates aggressive inventory trimming, which can improve turnover but risks stockouts if done without proper analysis. Managing kill ratio effectively requires data-driven decision-making and alignment with demand forecasts.
