Quality Assurance (QA) is a comprehensive and preventive approach to ensure that processes within the supply chain consistently produce products that meet quality standards. Unlike Quality Control, which detects defects after production, QA focuses on designing and maintaining systems, protocols, and standards that prevent defects from occurring in the first place. This includes supplier audits, process documentation, employee training, and continuous improvement initiatives. By embedding quality into every step of the supply chain—from supplier selection to manufacturing and distribution—QA minimizes the risk of defects, reduces rework and waste, and enhances overall supply chain reliability. Strong QA programs improve inventory turnover and reduce the cost impacts of non-conforming products, leading to better customer satisfaction and competitive advantage.
