Unit of Measure (UOM) defines the standard quantity or dimension in which inventory items are counted, stored, or sold—such as pieces, kilograms, liters, or cartons. Consistent use of UOMs is essential for accurate inventory tracking and reporting. Confusion or inconsistency in UOM can lead to errors in ordering, stocking, and fulfillment. Inventory systems often support multiple UOMs for the same item, allowing flexibility in procurement and sales while maintaining precise inventory control.
